Overview

170 Grammi Pizzeria in Surry Hills offers a thoughtfully crafted take on traditional Roman-style pizza. Nestled on Crown Street, the venue presents an inviting space that is both bright and open, perfect for casual dining or a family gathering. The focus here is clearly on thin, crispy pizzas that extend all the way to the crust, delivering authentic texture and flavor that lovers of genuine Italian pizza will appreciate.

The menu showcases a strong emphasis on classic and inventive toppings. Standouts include their Carbonara pizza, which cleverly reinterprets the beloved pasta dish, and the Porchetta Pizza, rich with savory, slow-cooked pork. Vegetarians can delight in options like the Ortolana and Vegana pizzas, which bring fresh and vibrant ingredients to the fore. The burrata-based dishes, such as the burrata salad or Burrata pizza, offer creamy yet mild flavors that pair well with the restaurant’s balanced approach to seasoning.

Beyond pizza, 170 Grammi ventures confidently into pasta, with dishes like Mafalde Pesto & Burrata and Rigatoni Amatriciana gaining praise for generous portions and satisfying textures. Their dessert offerings, such as the classic Tiramisu and Chocolate Torte, round out the meal nicely, though some may find elements like the maritozzi brioche a touch less delicate than expected.

The atmosphere strikes a balance between casual and polished, with attentive staff enhancing the dining experience. However, the space can feel a bit compact, and some diners have noted a rushed service pace during busy times. There is street parking available nearby, which is convenient if you time your visit outside peak hours.

170 Grammi appeals to those who seek authentic Roman pizza with a modern twist, favoring thin, crisp bases and well-curated toppings. While some reviews highlight minor inconsistencies—like occasional soggy dough or subtle seasoning—the overall reception is positive, particularly among those who appreciate genuine craftsmanship over flashy trends.

For locals and visitors craving a genuine slice in Surry Hills, this pizzeria offers a reliable and enjoyable experience, inviting you to explore their rotating specials alongside trusted favorites. Whether you arrive for the signature pizzas, robust pasta, or classic Italian desserts, 170 Grammi Pizzeria stands as a noteworthy spot in Sydney’s rich and varied Italian dining scene.

Awesome pizza place in Surry Hills. Would come back again for. I like crispy base pizzas and they are a little hard to find. Really good types of pizzas available. The crochante Bianca was way larger than I expected but it was mega delicious. The pizza were great. The Gamberi with the prawns were really good though I felt they coulda gone harder kn the garlic. Margherita was a good one. Keep an eye out for their pizza specials as they have some new ones not on regular menu. Was a decent amount of street parking if you came after peak traffic and people had gone home.

Came here for dinner after seeing TikTok reviews. They really talked it up. We had the prawn pizza it was ok dough was a bit soggy and the pieces were cut so big hard to eat. Had the mafaldine which was nice the pesto was interesting reminded me of Totti’s. Overall pretty average Italian I’ve had much better. They also left the front door open so the draft made all the food cold. Not much space inside. Wouldn’t come back.

Came here for a family lunch celebration. Pizzas were very thin and crispy all the way to the outer crust. Lots of traditional pizza options. Good flavours and ingredients, tasty and well cooked. Experience felt a bit rushed and overall not a stand out in Sydney’s crowded quality pizza scene. I know lots of people really like it so would recommend trying to judge for yourself.

We visited the venue on a weekend afternoon. The space was open and bright, and the staff were friendly. The burrata salad and pizza were great, though a bit mild in flavor for my taste. For dessert, we tried the maritozzi, which would have been even better if the brioche had a softer texture.

The Pizza is by far my favourite in Sydney. Thin and Crispy through out and full of flavour. The Eggplant parmigiana was crazy good and the calamari was delicious. The only complaint I have is about how cold the place is, and our food was ready about 5 minutes before it was served therefore was almost too cold by that time.

Yum!!! Their ox tail ragu was delish! Had a glass of pinot to go with it. Service was a bit slow despite having plenty of free tables. I’m just glad I could ask for extra Parmesan because it would’ve been a disservice if I didn’t! I would honestly come back for more pasta.
